Dr. Karim Fahmy

 

Studies of Biology and Physics at the universities of Marburg, Bochum und Freiburg, and the MPI for Radiation Chemistry in Muelheim a. d. Ruhr, supported by the "Deutsche Studienstiftung".

1991 phD on "Infrared-spectrocopic investigation of proton translocation in bacteriorhodopsin", received the "Hans-Griesebach-Prize" of the University Freiburg.

1991- 1994 Howard Hughes Medical Institute Fellow at Rockefeller University (Prof. Sakmar)

1994-1996 Research grant and fellowship by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft

1996-2002: Habilitation (1999), spectroscopic research on visual transduction, student training in the field of biophysics at the university of Freiburg.

Since 2002 head of the Biophysics Division at the FZD.
