Mechanical Technology

The Department of Research & Technology develops and realizes complex research equipment ranging from the equipment for experiments to extensive research facilities. Dependent on the requirements this starts with planning and design, project administration and may extend to the realization of developments and manufacturing of individual components.

The cooperation with different institutes of the Forschungszentrum requires support with a broad range of different technologies. Main activities are on one side the design and manufacturing of mechanical components and on the other side the supply with measurement devices and control systems up to the system level in order to create complete automation systems.

Processes under extreme boundary conditions are characteristic for the complexity of this challenge, which is revealed especially during the construction of large machines and extended experimental facilities. Combined with the diversity of technologies applied, the resulting complexity is continuously creating new challenges for the Department of Research & Technology.
