Similarities between the phase diagrams of the S=3/2 Heisenberg spin chains CrXO₄ [X=V,P]

CrVO₄ and CrPO₄ both adopt the same structure type. They can be well described as S=3/2 Heisenberg spin chains with predominant nearest-neighbour only spin exchange interaction. We show here an in-depth investigation into the magnetic structures of both compounds which is complimented by magnetic property measurements. Wherein, we’ve shown that both compounds exhibit a high field phase transition into an unknown state.
